An interview with … Lisa Lewis Event Planner

I am offering the first 5 couples who apply to 20% off my Wedding packages.

Offer ends 14/3/2013

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Lisa Lewis. I am 33 years old and live in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire with my husband and 2 little boys.

I worked in a day nursery for about 10 years looking after children between 0-5 years old. I was lucky enough to be able to give up my job when I had my first baby and became a stay at home mum. This is really where the love for Wedding/Event planning began, as I planned events for family and friends in my spare time.

What is your business?

My business is for Wedding/Event planning. I help people to organise their events as much or as little as needed. I find that offering the couple this service takes the pressure off them.  They can still have everything they have dreamed of during the planning process but with the help of myself, decisions are easier to make.

I also have great relationships with other vendors/suppliers which enables me to obtain great discounts for my clients, which in effect can sometimes cover my fees.

What inspired you to start your business?

My inspiration for starting my own business actually began when my friends and family who I had helped organise their own events, told me I should do something with the qualities I possess.

I did an Event Planning course during 2011/2012 achieving top grades across my assignments and then in September 2012 launched Lisa Lewis Event Planner. I feel very lucky to have started off so well taking on a few Weddings already.

What sets your business apart from the rest?

I feel I can offer a client a really personal touch, as I plan all events with them in mind and cater for their personal preferences/choices at all times. I think that being a Wedding/Event planner isn’t just a job to me, it’s something I thoroughly enjoy doing. If I can help others plan the Weddings of their dreams then I am a very happy lady. I like to think my enthusiasm for the job comes across when meeting the couple for the first time.

What do you love about your job?

I love everything about my job from meeting the clients, to getting to know them, to discussing all their visions. I then like to bring it altogether to create a very special memory for the couple that shows their individuality.

Have you ever had an unusual request from a bride?

I haven’t yet, but I am looking forward to listening to many brides requests. Nothing is too much trouble, I am happy to help at all times.

What is your best selling product/service?

My best selling service up to now has to be Wedding Day Co-ordination. This allows the bride to take control of the whole planning process, but then on the day of the Wedding, allows me to make sure everything runs smoothly and to time.

What advice can you offer brides planning their wedding?

My first piece of advice would be to set a budget and stick to it, you do not want to start married life owing lots of money for years to come.

I think any couple should feel happy with the suppliers they choose knowing that they can ask them anything at all. I also think they should do the relevant checks on them to make sure they have qualifications, insurance, contracts . This should give the couple reassurance. I guess this is where someone like myself comes in handy though, as I would
check all suppliers out for the clients.
