Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Cath; I’m Lancashire born but I’ve lived in Cumbria for 13 years now, with a little break in between in Glasgow where I got my degree in music. I’ve always loved being creative, and that’s never going to change!
When I’m not working you’ll find me in the cinema with my husband, working out how I can put Hollywood into my wedding films! I live at home with my husband Pete, my two amazing step-children, and our adorable cats.
What is your business?
My business is called CPD Film, and we specialise in wedding videography, and also videography for events and businesses.
What inspired you to start your business?
Quite simply I always wanted a job that would make me bounce out of bed in the morning, and I decided I would make that happen for myself! I had always had an active interest in visual media, and it was a matter of finding my niche and working really hard at it, which is exactly what I did. I love meeting new people, and lets face it, who doesn’t love weddings?!
What sets your business apart from the rest?
We pride ourselves in working to the absolute highest of standards, but doing it with a genuine smile. I know from talking to past brides and grooms that this shines through while we are filming, but also in the finished product, and it is something we are very proud of.
What do you love about your job?
Oh my goodness, everything! I love corresponding with my couples and building relationships with them before their big day. It goes without saying that filming is a fantastic part of what we do, and then they enjoyment continues when the editing starts. There is nothing else I’d rather be doing.
Have you ever had an unusual request from a bride?
Sadly not! However, I’m waiting for the call…the one that asks if I wouldn’t mind parachuting out of a plane with the bride, or filming an underwater ceremony! That’s a hint…
What is your best selling product/service?
There’s only really the one product and that’s a full wedding film. I do know that our couples really appreciate that we also give them a little preview video for their friends and family to enjoy online too.
What advice can you offer brides planning their wedding?
The one thing that I feel is the most important is that it’s YOUR wedding day, nobody else’s. If you are faced with difficult choices, follow your heart. Look around when choosing your suppliers, and get to know them a little if you can. Also remember that the most expensive is not necessarily the best, and nor is the cheapest going to let you down. Oh, and enjoy every minute when the big day arrives!
